On September 10, 2025, our firm achieved a significant milestone by securing three separate nolle prosequis in a single day. Often referred to as nolle pros or nol pros, this outcome represents the State’s formal decision to discontinue prosecution and dismiss charges against a defendant.
What Is a Nolle Prosequi?
Nolle prosequi is a Latin term meaning “will no longer prosecute.” In criminal cases, it is entered when the State determines it cannot or should not move forward, often due to conflicting evidence, credibility issues, or a strong defense that undermines the prosecution’s case. For our clients, a nolle pros means the charges are dropped and the burden of prosecution is lifted.
