Under Florida Statute § 627.736, Personal Injury Protection (PIP) insurance provides death benefits of up to $5,000 per individual. These benefits are separate from and in addition to any available medical or disability benefits under the policy.
PIP death benefits may be paid to:
- The executor or administrator of the deceased’s estate
- A relative by blood, legal adoption, or marriage
- Any person the insurer determines is equitably entitled to receive the benefits
